homebirth
Homebirth is a responsible choice for well prepared families and is recognized as such internationally. Worldwide experience with planned homebirths shows that outcomes for both mother and baby, are as safe, if not safer than hospital birth when attended by a Midwife in a Continuity of Care model. Homebirth as a choice for birth place is returning in popularity as pregnant women and couples are questioning and re-evaluating the health care system.
Women and families planning to birth their baby at home have a philosophy that pregnancy is a ‘normal’ part of life. Knowing and believing brings acceptance of the responsibility of their choices, being comfortable that they are well informed and feeling safe in those decisions. Throughout our lives we assess our own risk in every thing we are involved in – why should birth be any different.
By visiting you and your family in your home i get to know the people who are important in your life. I provide you with your prenatal, labour, birth and early parenting care – available to you 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. If required I liaise with your family GP and booking hospital. I do prefer you book into a hospital offering maternity services, as they are our back-up if transfer or further consultation is required.
