Sonya Beutel is a true guardian angel of home birthing women. I felt safe and protected throughout my pregnancy and the birth of my son in Sonya’s care.
She has a deep respect for birthing mothers, families and babies which is rare among those in the ‘baby industry’. Sonya trusted me to birth in my own home under my own steam and for that I am ever grateful. In turn I entrusted her with the nurturing and arrival of my precious child and this trust was always held with honour and respect.
The antenatal care Sonya provides is exemplary. Throughout my pregnancy I looked forward to Sonya’s smiling face and warm humour at our leisurely ‘appointments’ where she would palpate, educate and so much more. Never once did I feel rushed and Sonya was amazingly tolerant of the distractions of my boisterous young family.
During the birth of our son, Sonya looked on quietly, patiently and with little interference. When the time came she was supportive, comforting and gave us the empowering peace of mind that my baby and I were doing wonderfully. Our newborn was very fortunate to be cared for and caressed in Sonya’s hands without needless interventions, prods, pokes or medications.
In the days after our son’s birth we valued Sonya’s daily visits, where she spent generous amounts of time helping with breastfeeding, medical and parenting information. I am in gratitude for her care, support and belief in birthing women and I am much in awe of her talent, skill and grace.
Thankyou Sonya for helping create the precious memories I have of my son’s birth – an empowering, gentle and joyous occasion for my baby, family and me.

We asked Sonya to help us with our ninth delivery. We had had two Seizers and six VBACs with various levels of intervention. Whilst we were happy with the treatment we had received in private hospitals, we felt that if we took things more slowly we wouldn’t need the intervention. However, we wanted to be confident throughout the labor that mother and baby were both OK.
We engaged Sonya to coach us through the birth. In the pre-natal classes we learned a lot about birth processes that we had not learned previously. Sonya’s pre-natal checkups were comprehensive and personal. They were also at done in our home which was a great help.
With our plan being to stay at home as long as possible, Sonya helped us set up our home. She also helped to arrange the hospital admin and was available to attend the hospital interview if required.
When labor started Sonya was always available on the phone and willing to drop over regularly to check mother and baby. We felt we were in control with Sonya informing us of our current condition, options and risks. During the transition stage we saw no need to transfer to the hospital as labor was progressing well with no intervention. Baby Thomas was born at home and mother has recovered more quickly than after other births.
Post natal visits were also comprehensive and personal, and again in our home.
Thank you Sonya for helping us bring Thomas to birth and for giving us the information and confidence to let it happen in God’s time at home.

To dear Sonya,
How can I begin to explain to you how I feel my life has been changed forever? You gave me the faith, then my dear baby girls proved to be a reality. I believe babies have their own plans, thanks to the wisdom of your practice, and Siân showed me beyond doubt that she knew what she wanted.
But the whole event put you in a difficult place. I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate the way you handled the birth. I’m sure being bundled into an ambulance for the birth would never have healed me in the way this fast, furious, spontaneous, birth has! Having Siân in the bathroom may not have been part of the dream… or running out of hot water, or the tear (!!) But I got my ‘With Woman’ support; the best that money can buy.
You’ve been wonderful to us all in the past ten months both as a friend and as my carer. I hope you’ll always be part of out lives. Sian certainly will be a constant reminder of the ‘Wisdom of Women’. It’s invaluable, you’re invaluable.

Sonya was fantastic; I liked her from the very moment I spoke with her on the phone. It was such a relief to find someone who was on our wavelength. Sonya was a fantastic support and gave us heaps on information and things to think about that hadn’t even crossed our mind. As we spoke during our first meeting I kept thinking – Yes! Yes! Yes! This is what I’m looking for. For the next couple of weeks we were in regular contact with Sonya and she couldn’t do enough for us. .... During the labour my husband and I were so grateful the she was there. It was such a relief to know that we had someone on our side, who could advocate our wishes, keep us focused on our goals and explained things that the Nursing staff or Doctor wanted to do.
Sonya has been a great support even after the birth of our beautiful baby girl. My husband and I both value her friendship still. She is a great Midwife and a beautiful person. Everything about her tells you that she loves her job. .....Zoie

From the first time I met Sonya and we shared a milo at my kitchen table I knew we would be friends. What I didn’t know was that her skills as a midwife are more than what she has learnt in a text book, truly she follows a calling that only gifted midwives have.
Sonya guided me through my pregnancy, giving me all the information I requested and helping my family prepare for a new arrival. The mental and physical process you alone have to go through once you’re in labour, having Sonya beside you instinctively and medically knowing what’s happening and guiding your husband and support person to best help you, make this a beautiful experience.
Sonya you are worth your weight in gold, thank you form the bottom of our hearts and we would recommend your services to anyone and everyone. With your help Pria has had the best start in life.
